Kathy Breazeale
Bio
“To me, the beauty of the visual art of abstracts is that the viewer is not told what to see. One might get a glimpse of what the artist envisions, but the subjects-lines-colors-textures can be interpreted uniquely through the lens of each person who experiences the art.” –Kathy Breazeale
Prior to moving to Pensacola in 1991, teaching business & social studies was Kathy Breazeale’s focus while living in Texas. She and her husband decided to make a leap of faith, moved to Pensacola and opened Bayfront Gallery. Representing over 500 artists from every state in various 2 & 3D media, they worked 6 and 7 days a week for 15 years. Then, they decided to make a change.
A surprising third career began unexpectedly after Kathy was fortunate to take her first art class from former college art teacher, Susan Myers. She thought one had to be born an artist. The experience gave her the courage to try oil painting.
Other teachers came into her life, like local artist Joan Blackburn. National instructors Robert Burridge, Sterling Edwards, Joan Fullerton, Judie Davie, and Pat Weaver gave her new techniques.
Thanks to lessons and encouragement from her generous art friends, she has been fortunate to be juried into shows at Artel Gallery, Quayside Gallery's First City Show, and the Cinco Banderas.
Exploring Minimalism
Exploring Minimalism is a body of work that examines the beauty of the visual art of abstracts. Kathy Breazeale layers many colors onto prepared watercolor paper, then sands, scrapes, and burnishes through the many layers to find what appears from underneath. Each time is a new surprise.
